Orlando Bloom Says He's Up For Captain Britain Marvel Role

It's no wonder, really, given the recent success of 'Infinity War'...

In recent years we've not really seen much from Orlando Bloom, the British actor who's arguably most famous for his turn as blacksmith-turned-pirate Will Turner in the hugely popular Pirates of the Caribbean franchise and as the long-haired elf Legolas in the Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit films.

Well, we did also see a little too much of him a few years back when that photo of Bloom paddle-boarding naked with girlfriend Katy Perry went viral. That was quite the eyeful.

But he's explained there's a pretty good reason why he's been fairly selective with his roles recently - and that's seven-year-old son Flynn, his child from his former marriage to model Miranda Kerr.

In an interview with BBC Radio 2, the actor explained that he didn't want to be an absent father because of his career, explaining that it was about 'wanting to be there for him'.

One thing he's up for, though, is a Marvel movie - which is no wonder, given the recent success of Infinity War.

"All the Marvel movies are just phenomenal," he told the radio station after being asked about a potential role in the film series.

"You know, I really think it's about timing, I've not [been asked] but I've met [with people] over there, but it's sort of one of those things where I took a lot of time out to raise my son, and after being in a big franchise [Pirates Of The Caribbean] it was more about wanting to be there for him.

"I figured when he turns around to me when he's 10 and he's like, 'Where were you?' [I didn't want that to happen]."

But maybe a Marvel role might be the one to get him back in the spotlight, with Bloom suggesting he'd be the perfect for for Captain Britain.

He continued: "I do read [Marvel comics] a little bit. Who's the British one? Captain Britain! There you go. Terrible costume though, and also you've got Captain America so what you going to do? Captain Britain vs. Captain America?"

Of course, the fact that Bloom would be up for being part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe is understandable, as it's bloody BIG - as proven when Avengers: Infinity War, the latest in the series, smashed box office records with its opening weekend.

And with all those deaths in the recent flick, maybe there's room for the introduction of a new character...
