Stephen Bear appears to be claiming he's made a huge Bitcoin fortune, but many social media users think they've rumbled him.

Realty TV star Bear, who featured on Shipwrecked, Ex on the Beach and the 18th series of Celebrity Big Brother, posted a photo of what looks like a crytocurrency wallet, writing on Twitter: "Keep up," adding a smug face emoji.

The screenshot showed an e-wallet containing five Bitcoin, which are the equivalent of around £154,000 ($210,000).

The 31-year-old has recently been creating adult content with his girlfriend Jessica Smith, and also made the move onto celeb video site Cameo.

But the apparent wealth he's earned from such exploits may not be quite as it seems - as many people think they've spotted quite an obvious blunder.

A number of Twitter users commented to say they believed the image was, in fact, not a screenshot from Bear's own e-wallet, but one actually just taken from the internet.

One wrote: "Nice Google image search."

Another said: "Nice Google pic there mate..."

A third wrote: "This is comedy gold."

A fourth said the tweet was 'cringe as f***', while another added: "SO EMBARRASSING."

He seemed unbothered by the comments, later taking to Twitter again to write: "Inventing my own crypto coin today, what should I call it?"

Last month, it was reported that Bear could face four years in prison for a recent sex video, having posted a short clip on Twitter showing him receiving oral sex from Smith.

Thanks to the post, which was filmed while the pair were on holiday in Turkey, Bear may have broken two of the country's strict internet regulations by creating an 'unnatural sex' video and posting it online.

The term 'unnatural' in Turkey includes things such as gay and lesbian sex, group sex, as well as anal and oral acts.

It's understood that the maximum sentence for making such content is four years behind bars, while it's three years for sharing it on social media.

Following the post, Bear claimed that he had made $1,000,000 in the 12 hours after the video was shared.

Directing fans to more content on adult entertainment site AVN Entertainment, he tweeted: "I earned $1,000,000 in 12 hours. Click the link and subscribe to my page if you haven't already #helpmegetto2million [sic]."
