As you may or may not be aware, back when Dennis Wise was a footballer he was part of Wimbledon's notorious 'Crazy Gang' of hard men, before going on to lead Chelsea through most of the 90s. He was known as a player who wouldn't take any shit from anyone.
Back then, putting in crunching tackles and squaring up to opponents at his physical peak, I'm sure he wouldn't have imagined that years later he would be in the jungle surrounded by rats and bugs, taking shit from Ant and Dec. But here he is:

The Geordie duo aren't giving him an easy ride on the show, and people now seem to think they know the reason why. See, it's safe to say that Wise is not popular in Newcastle. In fact, the only people probably less popular than him are his mates Mike Ashley and Alan Pardew.
Ashley employed Wise as Newcastle United's Executive Director of Football in 2008. Given what we know about how Ashley tends to treat his employees, I should probably have more sympathy, but I don't and neither do the people of Newcastle.
Him, Ashley, Managing Director Derek Llambias, and Pardz were known as 'The Cockney Mafia' by the Geordie faithful during their time there. Locals thought they were running the club into the ground, something that was not helped by the fact that they chased fan favourite and lovable loser Kevin Keegan out of the club.

Anyway, Wise has now found himself at the mercy of lifelong Magpies fan Dec, who is constantly making jokes about Wise's size, despite actually being shorter than him.
Fans of the show have found it hilarious, and some have said he's not being savage enough.

One Twitter user, for instance, tweeted: "Dennis Wise was hired by [Mike Ashley] to destroy Newcastle Utd, inside and out by making him director of football. After he was sacked he [insulted] Geordies before he left, hence Dec, a Geordie and NUFC fan, mocks him. He's [being] way too nice with him."
To add to the on-screen insults, Wise's Wikipedia page has also been edited by some cheeky trolls.

The keyboard warriors made it so his description read: "Dennis Frank Wise (born 16 December 1966) is a very small man, and former Executive Director of Footballer at Newcastle United."
They also changed his height to read 'he's a very small man'.
People are saying Wise will be upset when he gets out and hears what Dec's been saying, but I reckon he'll probably be okay. He used to have to spend his days training with Vinnie Jones after all, so he probably has quite a thick skin.
