We've all told a little white lie to have a good time at some stage. Whether it's to our other half, our parents when we were younger or our boss and it seems that Peter Crouch is no exception to that.

The 40-year-old former Liverpool striker revealed all recently when he said he would get administrative staff to send an email about certain events being 'compulsory' in order to have a night on the tiles.

Speaking on his podcast That Peter Crouch Podcast, he said: "There's been a couple of occasions where there's a bit of a team bonding session or something like that and Ab will say, 'Don't have to go to that do you?'

"I'll be like, 'Well, no, I do' so there has been one or two occasions where I've gone to the secretary: 'Can you just fire an email just saying it's compulsory and it's important for the team?'.

"And we just go and have a night out."

That's not all the sneaky sod did either as he went on to reveal that he used to play the 'I've got a game tomorrow' card so that he didn't have to get up with the pair's four children during the night.

He went on: "On a Friday it's like the magical time to get out of anything because Saturday is the most important thing.

"You train all week to play on a Saturday...I remember when my first baby was born and I was still playing.

"Friday night if she's crying or something like that I'm like, 'That's not for me, I've got a game tomorrow'.

"I had a set routine - I'd have to eat correctly, I'd have to go to bed early and no interruptions until I was ready to get up. To be fair Ab understood." I would as well, just after opening my online banking app.

It's fair to say Abbey got her own back for all the porky-pies when she pierced her hubby's eyebrow as part of a stunt for a TV show.

Last summer Abbey appeared on an episode of Peter Crouch: Save Our Summer, having arrived with needle in hand, ready to entertain the nation with some amateur piercing.
