This is a resurfaced clip showing the moment Will Smith gave a lesson in gun safety:

The actor was with other crew members choosing props for the movie Bad Boys For Life which was released in January last year.

The video shows the 53-year-old notice that a colleague has picked up a handgun and turned it towards him. With that, Smith quickly reacted, whacking the gun downward.

From there, he grabbed hold of it, dropped the magazine, cleared the chamber and replaced the magazine before handing it back to the person.

Someone then laughed and said: "Thanks, Will," before Smith leaned his face into the camera lens and said: "Terrible gun safety".

Posting the clip on his Instagram page back on 15 January 2020, Will wrote: "It's BAD Boys. Not UNSAFE Boys."

Despite the whole thing being dealt with in a lighthearted way, it has become more relevant than ever since the incident involving actor Alec Baldwin who accidentally shot dead director of photography, Halyna Hutchins, on the set of Rust.

Commenting on Will's post at the time, one person wrote: "Finally an actor who knows how to handle a firearm in real life. Thanks Will."

Another added: "Now that's #BadAssss smooth the way you did that!! Love it!"

More recently, someone commented: "I thought this was recently posted because it's being shared and I was going to say 'great message but poor time to show how cool and skilled you are', glad this was last year."

Others were quick to slam the way Smith handled the gun though with one saying that he could have caused more damage: "Of course, striking the gun like that could have fired the gun," they wrote.

Someone else was quick to compare it to recent events, saying: "Will Smith understands that a gun IS ALWAYS LOADED TILL IT IS CHECKED WITH YOUR OWN EYES. Always drop the map and clear the chamber y'all. ALWAYS."

Another explained: "This Will Smith video is the first thing that came to mind after hearing the Alec Baldwin news from the set of Rust. It seemed dramatic to me at the time ngl [not gonna lie] cause I didn't know prop guns on set are sometimes very real."

Someone else simply wrote: "This is how it's done. Staged or not...it's the correct message."
