Ricky Gervais was forced to stop his live show when a fight broke out at the venue, with audience members saying he handled the whole thing like a 'true professional'. You can watch the moment below:

Last weekend, Gervais was performing at the SSE Arena in Wembley, north London, as part of his SuperNature tour.

At one point a 'fight' broke out among the crowd, prompting Gervais to try and intervene from the stage.

He told the crowd: "Keep me informed. What's going on? Any staff? Any staff around?"

As people cheered at him to continue with the gig, Gervais then said: "What? Carry on? I must be good if I'm better than a fight!"

One audience member posted footage of the moment on Twitter, writing: "Fight breaks out at @rickygervais gig. Ricky handles it like true professional."

Another tweeted: "2 years well worth the wait! @rickygervais way more entertaining than 'the fight' next to us."

A third said: "Just watched SuperNature by @rickygervais, the man acknowledged a fight in the crowd, asked staff to intervene turning it into a joke, in the span of 2 seconds. I am a fan forever."

Another person who was at the gig also told The Sun that the performance was interrupted several times due to 'scrapping'.

They said: "Ricky's gig was interrupted three times by people scrapping.

"No one had ever seen anything like it.

"During the first fight Ricky actually stopped and got security to intervene.

"He managed to turn it into a joke and the crowd were absolutely loving it.

"But when two more fights broke out it felt like pandemonium.

"Something was clearly in the water."

LADbible has contacted the SSE Arena for a comment.

The comedian, who is an outspoken advocate for animal rights, recently launched a petition to stop animal testing - which has now been signed more than 107,000 times.

It is calling for a change in law with regards to laboratory animals in the Animal Welfare Act, which prevents 'unnecessary suffering' to protected animals.

The petition page reads: "A recent exposé showed harrowing footage of the factory farming of laboratory dogs in the UK.

"Experiments on such dogs, and other animals, are today widely reported to be entirely failing the search for human treatments and cures.

"Current science from multiple fields proves that animal-based research and testing is not viable.

"The Government should therefore change the law to include laboratory animals under the protection of the Animal Welfare Act, to prevent their unnecessary suffering."

The page was originally launched due to viral footage on social media that showed dogs being loaded onto a lorry in small cages.
