He responded in a typically Ricky Gervais way to the insult

Ricky Gervais has reacted in a typical Ricky Gervais fashion after seeing a clip in which he was described 'so ugly'. You can see the clip here:

The After Life creator shared a clip from VNYO in which Vietnamese residents had been shown his photo and asked to name who it was. Simple enough, yeah?

One of the people asked reckoned he was Leonardo DiCaprio, while another said he was 'really funny' - although she also failed to remember his name.

And while some people did manage to get it correct - one woman gasped when his photo popped up and blurted out 'so ugly'. Ouch.

Sharing the clip, the comedian wrote: "'So ugly' - cheeky c**ts" alongside a crying with laughter emoji.

Which is a fair enough response, in my opinion.

Twitter

As you can probably imagine, Gervais' followers on Twitter thought the clip - and his response - was hilarious.

One person wrote: "'So ugly' without glasses - to 'Is that Leonardo DiCaprio?' - with glasses. I think that is praising you."

Another commented: "This is why you are so funny. Poke fun at yourself without throwing a tirade and moaning about how people can be so cruel and mean and nasty."

While a third joked: "There you have it... should have been Ricky on the bow of the Titanic holding out Kate Winslet's arms. To be fair, Titanic with Ricky would definitely be worth a watch."

Gervais is currently working hard on the eagerly anticipated third season of Netflix's After Life - I'm sure the woman in the above clip will be delighted.

As yet, there's no release date but Gervais has previously revealed he's hoping it'll be out before the end of the year.

Speaking in an interview on Lorraine back in February, he said: "Everything's going well, we film in April and May and then it takes a few months to edit and then it takes a couple of months to put into a 160 languages.

"So, I'm hoping [it will air] by the end of the year."

And fans will have to make the most of it when it does land, as Gervais has also said he reckons the third helping will be the last.

Speaking to The Sun, he said: "I've already made my mind up - there just won't be a fourth.

"You never say never but you put those things out there to make you remember because it's tempting, it's very tempting."
