Just the woman we needed

It looks like we're in the depths of the coronavirus crisis, and while it might not be showing any signs of slowing, Buffy The Vampire Slayer has got our backs if the apocalypse comes.

Sarah Michelle Gellar, who played the eponymous demon fighter in the hit TV show from 1997, posted a very reassuring Instagram story - just what we need in these testing times.

Sarah, now 42, was the star of the show, where she would take down vampires, demons and basically anything that crossed her path to save the world. To anyone not familiar with it, you are missing out.

Anyway - now we are seeing, not quite apocalyptic scenes, she's reunited with the character, taking to social media so post a photo of herself holding what could easily be one of her old props - a massive stake.

It looked like she'd found the weapon out on a walk, and was joking about how finding it must be a sign.

She announced to her followers: "Hmmmm... found this on my walk today."

It wasn't long before both fans and her old cast-mates were piping up with references to the show.

Michelle Trachtenberg, who played Buffy's little sister Dawn, in the series wrote: "Buffy, what are we going to do now?"

While Selma Blair, who starred in Cruel Intentions with Sarah, wrote: "And the adventures begin. Can I be your sidekick?"

Before she found the stake, Sarah posted a shot of herself from the show holding up a pager (if you aren't old enough to remember them, lucky you).

She captioned it: "If the apocalypse comes, beep me."

Just the woman we needed.

She then shared another picture, but this time of a rainbow, writing the word: "Hope."

But people have also been getting all excited about the prospect of her potentially teasing new stuff, as well as urging her to star in the reboot too.

One user replied: "I honestly think you should guest star in at least one episode of the Buffy reboot. If it's about the legacy Buffy laid out for potential slayers, she could show up fight a demon with the new slayers or just give an amazing speech to them and go about her way. Fans would go crazy."

That they would.
