Scarlett Moffatt has revealed she got together with her police officer boyfriend after he responded to her call for help at her home.

While many people often turn to apps for dating these days, 30-year-old Moffatt managed to find love in a fairly unexpected place - right on her doorstep.

The I'm A Celebrity winner explained how she'd had to call the police after spotting the paparazzi loitering outside her house, and it was her now-boyfriend Scott Dobinson who responded to the call.

Speaking to the Mirror, Moffatt recalled: "I had a weird pap who was trying to take photos inside my house so I rang the local police station. Scott came to the house to deal with that.

"My friend was in the house with me at the time and I was like, 'He's so fit, I really fancy him'."

She continued: "So I commented on a picture of him and his dog Toby and put, 'Ah, cute... and the dog'.

"I'd had a couple of drinks.

"In the morning, I was like, 'I can't believe I've done that!'"

Thankfully, 36-year-old Dobinson didn't leave her hanging and eventually replied.

The pair had actually known each other for years, but it was the unexpected meeting following Scarlett's call to the cops that prompted her to make a move.

Moffatt added: "He commented back with a smiley face and we started chatting on Facebook Messenger. We'd known each other a long time."

The couple have since moved in together, with Moffatt telling the Mirror back in October: "It's only happened in the last few weeks and it's so new we are still laughing and smiling about it."

Loved-up Moffatt also spoke about their relationship in a heartfelt New Year's Eve Instagram post, saying that 2020 had brought her 'closer' to Dobinson.

She said: "I always think of myself as independent, strong willed and a feminist. But that doesn't mean that I can't say from the bottom of my heart thank you for helping me get through this year.

"This has been the worst year for so many different reasons, but 2021 gives us the opportunity to start a new chapter in our life. I know to some it's just a date change but for me and many others it's that feeling of new beginnings. I know what I'm taking with me into 2021 and what I'm leaving behind in 2020."

Addressing her fans, Moffatt added: "I know we can all get through this next year together, I promise you we can."
