Sir Patrick Stewart Reveals How He Remains Hench As F*ck

One simple technique.

Seventy-six years old and still hench; Sir Patrick Stewart is more ripped than some men who are half his age.

And, in case you were wondering, the incredible X-Men and Star Trek star has revealed just how he keeps in such superb shape.

When celebrating his Golden Globes nomination a couple of years ago, he revealed all. Well, it's pretty straightforward and it's not an expensive, celebrity lifestyle.

"Push-ups. It's that simple," he said.

When he posted this photo just over a year ago, many were astounded by his figure. But Sir Pat admitted he had other things on his mind...

"It wasn't the abs I was thinking of showing," he explained. "The pink shorts, the pink beach shoes and the pink cocktail I had in one hand - I was colour coordinated and that was what it was really about."

It looks as if it's not just the push-ups, though. His dog certainly has given him an exercise in strength.

It's either that, or the push-ups are helping him keep moderate control of the dog. Without them, I feel 'GingerGurl' would have had Sir Patrick flying down the street.

Now, we're all instantly thinking, 'If I just did push-ups could I get a ripped as Mr Stewart?'. Qualified personal trainer, Pete Crawshaw, says yes.

"Definitely," he told LADbible when asked if Sir Patrick's physique was achievable from push-ups. "The push-up is an exercise I swear by and should be a fundamental of everyone's training.

"The push-up is known as a chest exercise but also heavily recruits the shoulders and triceps with emphasis also placed on the abs to maintain a tight core throughout the move."

Of course, things like this will take time to show results.

"Keep a tally chart on your fridge and rack up as many push-ups throughout your day as possible," said Pete.

His examples include doing 30 push-ups when you wake up in the morning, 10 in every TV advert break, or even being brave and doing 10 every time you check your phone.

"Then, at the end of each week, count your total and that is your target for the next week," added Pete.

Nutrition is also a large part of a good physique, with lean protein a suggested inclusion in every meal alongside fibre and veg. But using your own mass is a proven technique, particularly in film.

"The cast of 300 relied heavily on bodyweight training to develop their famous physiques," explained Pete. "With the busy filming schedules, the push-up can be performed almost anywhere for actors looking to get some extra work in between takes."

Jonah Hill is the latest in a long line of actors to shed the weight dramatically. He was snapped in America looking almost nothing like his 18-stone former self.

He described his transformation as a 'maturing in body and in mind'.

Expect the gym to be packed in tomorrow in that case. We'll just do the push-ups.
