Steve Buscemi's Reaction To The Jennifer Lawrence Deepfake Video Is Priceless

The internet was understandably disturbed when a deepfake video surfaced showing someone had superimposed Steve Buscemi's face onto Jennifer Lawrence's body while she was doing a press conference after winning a Golden Globe award.

Yeah - it's creepy.

A deepfake is an AI technology that can essentially take images of a person and upload them onto an object or person.

There is a lot of concern around this advancement because it can make the spreading of fake news much easier as it's more difficult to distinguish between reality and the deepfake.

Obviously with the Buscemi x Lawrence video, it's pretty easy.

But the conversation around the hilarious clip had built to such a level that Stephen Colbert had to ask the Boardwalk Empire star what he thought about the video when he was on The Late Show.

To be fair, his facial reaction was priceless enough. When the video ended you could see he had the biggest WTF expression on him, which is understandable when you've been lobbed onto J-Law's body.

Seconds later he followed it up with: "I've never looked better."

While the technology might be funny in this circumstance, it's becoming a problem for many people around the world, mainly celebrities.

Several deepfake porn videos have surfaced, showing actresses like Dasiy Ridley from Star Wars, Gal Gadot from Wonder Woman and Harry Potter's Emma Watson engaged in some pretty raunchy stuff.

Obviously it's not them in the videos but the deepfake technology can make it pretty convincing. And that's just the start, imagine what they'll be able to do in the next few years.

While it can cause a bit of anxiety for the victims of this stuff, Scarlett Johannson, who is reportedly a celebrity who is used often for deepfakes, told the Washington Post she's not bothered by it.

"Clearly this doesn't affect me as much because people assume it's not actually me in a porno," she told the newspaper, "however demeaning it is. I think it's a useless pursuit, legally, mostly because the Internet is a vast wormhole of darkness that eats itself.

"There are far more disturbing things on the dark web than this, sadly. I think it's up to an individual to fight for their own right to the their image, claim damages, etc."

While the world is still trying to work out how to feel about these videos, at least we have the more wholesome ones like the Steve Buscemi x Jennifer Lawrence ones to laugh about.

At least Steve certainly enjoyed it.
