Steve-O Speaks Out About The Closest He's Come To Dying

The 45-year-old claims that a scuba diving experience is the closest he's ever come to 'actual death'

Big news, everyone: Steve-O from Jackass has had a near-death experience.

No s***, I hear you say. After all, the bloke's tightroped across a pond of alligators (with raw chicken hanging out of his boxers), he's jumped off buildings into shallow pools of water and even pierced his cheek with a fish hook. There's pretty much nothing he won't do.

But now he's outlined the time he dabbled with death good and proper, via an interview with sport reporter Graham Bensinger.

The 45-year-old first started speaking about the time when he obtained his scuba diving licence while he was on a three-day 'cocaine bender'.

He said: "There's nothing legal or that should be legitimate about my scuba certification. It's supposed to happen over a course of so many days. I think we crammed it into a three-day period, which invalidates it.

"And on top of that I did not sleep for that entire three-day period - I just kept doing drugs the whole time. I remember little to nothing about, y'know, whatever the mechanics of scuba... I should not be certified."

That quickly turned the tale of his near-death mishap, as Bensinger asked about the time he nearly got himself into 'real trouble'.

Steve-O carried on: "The closest I've ever come to death, like actual death, I think was scuba diving. We were somewhere, I can't remember what part of the world maybe... I don't know, we were some part of the world.

"We were getting ready to scuba dive with sharks. I heard them say the sharks were at the bottom so I just go to the bottom... and I keep going to the bottom.

"I don't know if I was coming up or down but at one point someone grabs my fin and I don't know what's going on. When we get up they're screaming at me, 'You motherf***er, you almost died and I almost died trying to save you.'

"It was because I was doing it wrong. I was like, 'Dude, they said the sharks were at the bottom,' so yeah, it's f***ed up.

"And I continue to be able to scuba dive like I don't know if I'm in the system but yeah, I continue to be able to scuba dive and I should not."

Hmm, is this a good time to suggest someone revokes his license?
