The Rock Responds To His Picture As A Chubby Young Man

The Rock Responds To His Picture As A Chubby Young Man

He looks a lot different, and that's just without the beard.

If there is one thing that we've learned from Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson over the years, it's that you have to work hard as hell if you're going to get from the bottom, to where you want to be.

Rocky spent a large portion of his life wrestling in car-parks and school halls before he rose to become 'The Most Electrifying Man in Sports Entertainment' and sit atop the pantheon of World Wrestling Entertainment greats.

Since then, he's kicked on and become an actor, starring in a whole load of films - some good, some, well, les good - and become the best paid actor in the world for his role in the hugely popular Ballers.

That's some career trajectory. It wasn't always nailed on to be that way, though.

Today, he shared a photo of a chubby looking young man who used to play in the Canadian Football League as a rookie for the Calgary Stampeders. It was, of course, himself.

What a transformation it's been. First off, he's aware of how bad that beard looks now. Secondly, he's now so ripped it's embarrassing for all men, basically. In this photo he looks a wee bit chubby, and more than a little bit green behind the ears. A long way from the Brahma Bull we have grown to know and love.

Rocky was tagged in the tweet -rather cruelly - by his old CFL team, who said: "Now that's a nice headshot, eh @TheRock?"

Never one to pass up an opportunity, The Rock responded on his own Twitter, saying: "6'5 280lbs of hungry nightmare (or thirsty dream pending one's perspective). Also not sure why I thought shaving my goatee but keep my beard was a good choice. Someone throw chunky smiles over here another waffle."

Well, at least he isn't afraid to take the mickey out of himself. In fact, it just further adds to the idea that perhaps Dwayne Johnson is just an all-around good guy.

Recently, he bought his stunt double (who is also his cousin, as it happens) a brand new truck and presented it to him as a surprise.

To say he was taken aback is something of an understatement.

As ever, The Rock was classy about it. He posted a tribute to Tanoai Reed that read: "Over the course of my career, my stunt double (and cousin) Tanoai Reed has broken multiple bones, severed tendons, torn ligaments & just been an overall dominating bad ass achieving several 'Stuntman of the Year' honors.

"All done with one goal in mind - deliver the best movie possible to the world.

"I had this custom pickup truck delivered just in time to surprise him (he's still recovering from a stunt injury) while we gave what he thought was going to be an interview about our careers together.

"As you'll see the moment I put my hands on my hips, that's the driver's cue to pull away and reveal the big surprise."

He continued: "Not only does Tanoai represent our family and my career with relentless commitment and passion. He also represents an entire Hollywood stunt community that is truly the backbone of our business.

"Love you uso [brother] and thank you for the blood, sweat, tears and years. We're just getting started.

"Enjoy your new truck!"

Strong men also cry. Strong men, also cry.
