She's funny; she's smart; she's single: she's Judith Lucy.

That incredible combination has led to calls for the Aussie comedian to be promoted as the next person to be the centre of reality TV attention.

A petition has been started online calling for the icon to star in the next season of The Bachelorette.

In just a few short days, it's racked up more than 11,000 signatures, with many people exclaiming they would 'watch the s*** out of that'.

The petition says: "As a single woman over the age of 30, Judith would be a relatable - but revolutionary - presence on a television dating show.

"Judith has just completed a sold out tour of her show 'Judith Lucy v Men' about her somewhat lacklustre dating history. Time to get this woman back in the game with some quality Aussie blokes.

"They'll be lining up - and at their age they're probably not even trawling for Insta followers!

"Judith is an utterly compelling woman who is not only funny, but deeply caring and kind. And imagine how fascinating the coterie of men interested in this Aussie icon would be!"

The idea actually started when a caller to ABC radio suggested it to host Virginia Trioli and since then it's snowballed into the incredible position it is today.

People are absolutely loving it on social media.

One person wrote: "The Bachelor/Bachelorette is sorely in need of more diversity to make it more relatable. I'm tired of seeing Eastern Suburbs clones. Let's have some age diversity, more POCs (not one token Asian guy who's gone by episode two), people with disabilities, body shape diversity! More real people please."

Another added: "I love watching the Bachelorette and Bachelor for mind-numbing escapism, but let's be honest, all of the characters are too swimsuit perfect and too young! Please God, give us someone real and relatable! I've always thought the show would be awesome if it had 'real' singles in their 30s, 40s and 50s, divorced, jaded, flabby, whatever. I saw this petition for Judith Lucy and couldn't think of a better candidate!"

People are calling on the show's host Osher Günsberg to acknowledge the petition and get the show's producers to get Judith on the show ASAP.
