Tom Hanks Breaks His Silence And Spectacularly Goes In On Donald Trump

Tom Hanks Breaks His Silence And Spectacularly Goes In On Donald Trump

It will be a 'dark day for the planet earth'.

It's kind of ironic that just from Tom Hanks' starring role in Charlie Wilson's War (2007), he probably has more experience in the White House than Donald Trump.

Forest Gump Hanks has recently ripped the Republican US Presidential candidate a new one. Even throughout a seriously passionate rant, somehow he still manages to sound calm, cool and collected as ever.

The interview took place while on the road promoting his new movie, Inferno. Hanks was well up for talking about the topical issue of Trump trying to climb into the President's seat.

"Houston, we have a problem," his character Jim Lovell in Apollo 13 (1995) would say. Hanks, on the other hand, naturally creates dramatic effect by just saying it how it is.

"Oh yeah, let's talk about that self-involved gas bag, do you want to talk about him?" the actor asked, we're guessing rhetorically because he didn't wait for an answer.

Hanks compared this particular presidential race to dental surgery. He said: "Look, if I have an abscess tooth and need to see an oral surgeon, I'm not going to go to the guy who says, 'you know what, I think I can be a pretty good oral surgeon'. I'm going to go to someone who has been doing it for 30 years and has handled it a million times and knows all the small little... I'm voting for Hillary Clinton because I think she is wildly, wildly qualified to be the president of the USA."

Well, he certainly made that clear.

"So, there you go, close enough? Have I been authentic in my answer to you one way of another?" he asked. Crystal clear thank you. For anyone who is still not sure, Hanks is not a fan.

But let's say the majority of those voting on November 8 don't agree with the actor? What if Trump wins despite the sexist comments he's made in the past, his lack of experience and his extreme rhetoric. What then, Hanks?

In this situation, his character Paul Edgecomb in The Green Mile would say: "I guess sometimes the past just catches up with you, whether you want it to or not."

But the real Hanks paints a much more daunting image. "Well then it's a dark day for the planet earth," he said.

We'll let America decide that one. If they make this whole situation into a movie - which, let's face it, is going to happen eventually regardless of the outcome - can we suggest that Hanks narrates it. I'm already hooked.
