Pubs and bars may be closed, but that hasn't stopped a lot of us from doing a healthy (unhealthy) amount of drinking at home during lockdown.

But Spider-Man actor Tom Holland had decided he was going to take a little break from boozing in quarantine when a case of gin turned up at his house courtesy of Ryan Reynolds.

In a remote chat with Jimmy Kimmel, the 23-year-old explained that he was quarantined with a few mates in London, which had inevitably resulted in a lot of drinking.

Asked if they were having any issues living together, Holland replied: "Not really 'cause we're all drunk all the time."

However, he had planned to give his body a bit of time off the booze when a case of Reynolds' Aviation gin turned up on his doorstep and well and truly ruined that plan.

He said: "I actually said this weekend that I was going to stop drinking for a week, I was going to have a week off. And then literally Monday morning, Ryan Reynolds sent me a case of gin.

"I was literally like 'I'm not drinking for the whole week, not drinking at all', and then the doorbell rang and there was a case of gin from the lovely Ryan."

Ah well, no point fighting Tom mate, best get Asda to send over a pallet of tonic now.

Holland added: "It says here on the box, it says 'some friendly neighbourhood spider gin, love Ryan'."

Well, if Joe Russo is to be believed, then Holland deserves a good drink, as he believes the actor has put in an 'Oscar worthy' performance in his upcoming film Cherry.

In a world without Covid-19, we'd be able to assess the Oscar-worthiness of this performance for ourselves in the near future, as the movie is currently in post production; however, the uncertainty caused by the disease and social distancing measures means we don't have a release date just yet.

Judging by the verdict of the younger Russo though, Holland's performance should be worth the wait.

Speaking to ComicBook.com, he said: "I think it's an Oscar worthy performance. I think he is absolutely amazing in it. He gives a gut wrenching performance.

"What he does to himself emotionally and physically is unbelievable. We haven't a seen an actor in a role like this in a while.

"The movie spans a decade, complemented by an epic performance. And one that I certainly hope will be in the Oscar conversation."
