Australia has been blessed with creating some pretty iconic ads to attract visitors to our shores, but the latest campaign has a lot of people talking.

Kylie Minogue was the shining star recruited to lure British people to Australia and it's being dubbed an automatic classic with audiences.

The 'Locomotion' singer was flown all around our sun-blessed country to show why people on the other side of the planet should jump on a plane for 24-hours.

But because there was so much happening in the three-minute advert, it was hard to clock everything that was shown or mentioned.

In a scene that lasted all of a second or two, Kylie Minogue jumped into the character that launched her career: Neighbours star Charlene.

She pulled herself out from under a car, was dressed in her iconic overalls and sporting that perfectly 80s perm. Unless you were a massive Neighbours fan from back in the day when Kylie was on screen, that bit might have passed you by.

Kylie told News Corp: "I was ready to chicken out. But I didn't want to be half-arsed about it. In for a penny, in for a pound. I nearly lost my mind.

"It felt really bizarre. I had the scrunchie in my hair and everything, oh my God. I think that'll be the last time I dress as Charlene. It'd be strange to do it again in the future. Although maybe for a comedy sketch or something."

There were other brief celebrity appearances that you might have accidentally dodged.

Kylie is revered in the UK as much as in Australia, just like comedian Adam Hills, who has been hosting a show called The Last Leg and getting stuck into disability activism.

He featured throughout the ad to provide a bit of comedy to Kylie's singing and was joined by sporting legends Shane Warne, Ash Barty and Ian Thorpe.

Some of the best hidden gems from the campaign were the sly digs over Brexit and the relationship between the UK and Australia.

In regards to Britain leaving the European Union, there were certainly a few references in Kylie's song; namely when she sings 'This year's been tough and confusing' and then Adam Hills jumps in with 'Negotiating tricky trade deals is a shocker'.

The pair then team up to bust out the lines 'We know you think you're above us', 'You just repress emotions', and 'We'll put you right'.

It was also hard to pinpoint all the locations that Tourism Australia showcased throughout the ad. The team travelled to the Northern Territory, Byron Bay, Cronulla, Rottnest Island, the Whitsundays, Taronga Zoo and Sandringham Beach in Victoria. Not bad places to visit to be fair.

It's a pretty bloody fantastic ad that will likely be remembered as one of the greats in the years to come.
