Vin Diesel Finally Explains Dwayne Johnson Feud

Diesel says it's all because he tried to help take Johnson's career from wrestling to acting

There's been talk for many years about an ongoing feud between Vin Diesel and Dwayne Johnson and finally we've got a little bit of context. From one side, we should add.

Let's lay things out a bit better for anyone who isn't in the know. So, Johnson initially appeared as Luke Hobbs in Fast Five and later went on to call an unnamed Fast 8 male co-star a 'candy ass'. It was never specified who the rant was aimed at, but of course people were quick to claim that he was targeting Diesel.

Posting on to social media, the 49-year-old former wrestler wrote: "Some [male co-stars] conduct themselves as stand up men and true professionals, while others don't. The ones that don't are too chicken shit to do anything about it anyway. Candy asses."

He then went on to add: "When you watch this movie next April and it seems like I'm not acting in some of these scenes and my blood is legit boiling-you're right." Yikes.

Fast-forward to now and Diesel has taken the opportunity to explain what was actually going on (in his own words) and told Men's Health: "My approach at the time was a lot of tough love to assist in getting that performance where it needed to be."

He continued: "As a producer to say, Okay, we're going to take Dwayne Johnson, who's associated with wrestling, and we're going to force this cinematic world, audience members, to regard his character as someone that they don't know-Hobbs hits you like a ton of bricks.

"That's something that I'm proud of, that aesthetic. That took a lot of work. We had to get there and sometimes, at that time, I could give a lot of tough love. Not Felliniesque, but I would do anything I'd have to do in order to get performances in anything I'm producing."

It seemed as though the beef came to an almighty end after Johnson posted a video message of him at the gym (where else?) in which he thanks the fans for making Hobbs & Shaw a hit - with a nod to fellow alpha male, Diesel.

Bet that was tricky for him.

With a pools' worth of sweat dripping off his face, the actor said: "I just want to say thank you guys so, so much.

"You have officially made Hobbs & Shaw not only a massive, global success - as we've just crossed $750 million dollars at the global box office - but also, you helped enable a build-out and an expansion of the Fast and Furious universe."

After thanking Universal Studios, as well as the cast and crew members, he adds: "Lastly, but not least, I want to thank brother Vin for your support of Hobbs & Shaw.

"I saw your post, and I appreciate it... What a wild ride this has been [since] 10 years ago, when you and I spoke and you invited me into the Fast & Furious family.

"I'm grateful for that invite. And as you know, my goal was always, all these years, to come into the Fast & Furious world and help elevate the franchise in any way that I possibly could...

"We did it the right way, we did it the smart way, and again, brother, I appreciate your support."
