Zach Braff has praised his partner Florence Pugh after she gave an 'intelligent and articulate' response to trolls who criticised their age gap relationship.

The 45-year-old Scrubs star and Pugh, 24, went public with their relationship in 2019, after meeting while working on In The Time It Takes To Get There.

Sharing a cute post to mark Braff's birthday in April, Pugh was forced to turn off comments after trolls decided to share their opinions on the couple's relationship.

In response, Pugh posted a lengthy video in which she said she wouldn't put up with 'bullies' posting on her social media profile.

Meanwhile, Braff appeared to have taken a different approach and simply didn't speak out about the trolling over their age gap - until now.

In an interview with Mr Porter, he said: "She literally sat down, hit record on her phone and said that.

"I thought: how could I possibly follow anything as intelligent and articulate as that? So, I chose not to."

Fair point.

In Pugh's original post, she said: "It is the first time in my entire Instagram life that I've had to turn off the comments on my page, I have never been an Instagram page that encourages that, I have never been an Instagram page that likes that toxic vibe.

"I have only been an Instagram page that tries to bring some light and tries to be positive, and tries to make people smile."

She went on to hit out at the 'bullies' and said, in no uncertain terms, that she was an adult and could choose who she wanted to be in a relationship with.

She added: "It makes me upset, it makes me sad that during this time when we really all need to be together, we need to be supporting one another.

"We need to be loving one another, the world is aching and the world is dying and a few of you have decided to bully for no reason.

"I'm 24 years old, I have been working since I was 17 years old, I have been earning money since I was 17 years old, I became an adult when I was 18 years old and I started paying taxes when I was 18 years old.

"I underline this fact, I am 24 years old.

"I do not need you tell me who I should and should not love, and I would never in my life ever tell anyone who they can and cannot love."
