Wheel Of Fortune Contestant Misses Out On Car Despite Getting Answer Correct

Wheel Of Fortune Contestant Misses Out On Car Despite Getting Answer Correct

Viewers have demanded Wheel of Fortune give her the prize

A Wheel of Fortune contestant lost out on winning a brand new car even though she got the answer correct. You can see how it unfolded here:

Charlene Rubush managed to make it all the way through to the bonus round on Tuesday's episode after picking up an impressive $16,500 and a holiday.

The bonus round, which had a top prize of an Audi Q3, had a category clue of 'What Are You Doing?' and was a four-word answer.

Charlene already had the majority of the letter, including two complete words, so was just left puzzling over what was left.

Her first guess was ‘choosing the right card’, which was incorrect so she had a think and again started off with choosing the right…’ at this point she stopped for a few seconds to try and work out what the final word could be before settling on ‘word’ - the correct answer.

So, she got the correct answer before the time ran out - surely the car is hers now, right? Wrong, because apparently she took too long of a pause while getting the phrase out.

Host Pat Sajak explained: “You know, this one's tough, because you said all the right words, including the word ‘word’.

“But, as you know, it's got to be more or less continuous. We'll allow for a little pause but not four or five seconds.

“I'm sorry. You did a good job in getting it, but we can't give you the prize, and it was the Audi.”

Ouch.

A clip of Charlene’s near win has since gone viral on social media, with Twitter users urging Wheel of Fortune to give her the prize while the hashtag #GiveHerTheQ3 started to trend.

One person wrote: “Wheel of Fortune, you just lost a viewer. 'I am choosing the right word' to never watch this show again.

"I'm done! I'm with that lady. She deserves that Audi! That rule is the most dumbest thing ever! She had it right before the time was up!”

Another said: “Ending of Wheel of Fortune tonight was brutal. She said the word right as the time expired, but she didn’t say the phrase. Pat having no love in his heart.”

While a third asked: “‘More or less continuous’ - what does that mean? Anyone have the actual rule? There was nothing in between ‘right’ and ‘word’, not even a sound. How is that not continuous?”

And, it looks as though she might be getting herself a new motor after all - as Audi also got involved, tweeting to say: “You're a winner in our eyes, Charlene. Now, let's get you a prize. Time to #GiveHerTheQ3.”
