Fans Think New Trailer Hints The Joker Will Appear In The Batman

A new international trailer has prompted a lot of speculation by fans

Eagle-eyed Batman fans reckon they may have spotted a couple of clues that the Joker will appear in Matt Reeves' The Batman after a new trailer dropped. You can see the new international trailer here:

The Batman will see Robert Pattinson take on the role of Bruce Wayne/Batman, with Paul Dano as the Riddler and Colin Farrell playing Penguin. The movie also stars Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman.

However, now fans are speculating that the Joker could also make an appearance in the new flick, after a new trailer dropped in Japan.

Posting on social media, fans think they saw two clues that pointed towards the Joker.

Firstly, there’s a grinning face in the background of a black and white photo of Bruce Wayne. Although you can’t see much of the face, some fans believe this could be a nod to the Joker.

Secondly, at the end of the trailer you can hear a creepy maniacal laugh, which some people think could be the Joker’s.

One fan asked: “Is this Barry Keoghan's Joker laugh at the end of the new Japan Batman trailer?”

Keoghan - who recently appeared in Marvel's Eternals - is a popular choice to play the Joker. He is set to star in The Batman, but is listed as playing Officer Stanley Merkel.

Another asked: "Is no one else gonna bring up the face they won't show in the jail cell, followed by the laughter?"

However, before we get too excited about the nemesis cropping up in the new movie, other fans have - quite rightly - pointed out that the Riddler has been known to use a similar disturbing laugh and think it actually belongs to Dano.

For now, it looks as though fans will just have to wait until March next year, when the film is released.

Although we’re still a few months of release, comic-book lovers are already excited about seeing a new star take on the legendary role.

And if the reaction from the movie’s trailer is anything to go by, it looks as though people are pretty happy with the choice.

After a teaser was released in October, one person tweeted: "The movie isn't out yet but Robert Pattinson is my favourite Batman, his Batman voice is PERFECT."

Another said: "Robert Pattinson has absolutely nailed the Batman voice."

Pattinson has spoken about his decision-making process when it came to 'the Batman voice' in the past, explaining how he took inspiration from another actor, and a perhaps unlikely film.

If you've ever seen The Lighthouse, the black and white thriller about two lighthouse keepers who descend into madness when they're stranded on an island during a storm, you'll know that Pattinson starred alongside Willem Dafoe in the movie.

Well, he's decided to take a bit of inspiration from his co-star, and use a similar voice.

He explained: "Willem's voice in this was quite inspiring for it, to be honest... it is pretty similar, the voice I'm gonna do, to Willem's."

The Batman is released 4 March 2022.
