The 'Dirty Harry' star is also directing 'The Mule'. It's about a man who accidentally becomes a courier for a Mexican cartel. Oops.

Everybody knows Clint Eastwood. He's been acting since the 1950s and over the past few decades has also become an incredibly successful film director - winning Oscars for Best Director and Best Picture in 1993 for Unforgiven and again in 2005 for Million Dollar Baby.

Basically he's a Hollywood legend, but his last official acting role was in 2012 when he played Gus Lobel in Trouble With The Curve - although he did have an uncredited cameo in 2014's American Sniper, which he also directed and produced, as a church goer.

Now, though, Clint is set to make his return to acting in his new project The Mule. In this new movie, which he is also directing, he plays a character called Earl Stone, a man in his 80s whose business is facing foreclosure.

To make things worse, the down-on-his-luck Earl takes what he thinks is a driving job, and proceeds to get sucked into the seedy world of drug trafficking by unwittingly becoming a courier for a Mexican cartel. Which is a pretty dangerous mistake to make.

The film then follows Earl as he tries to both right his past mistakes and wrangle out of his situation before either the police or the cartel's enforcers catch up to him. We're guessing that calling the cops and saying he made a mistake probably wouldn't cut it.

The Dirty Harry star - who is 88 in real life - was snapped filming The Mule on Monday in Augusta, Georgia. We have to say, he looks great for his age, and it's not just because he was carrying around a giant flower.

Because he is almost 90, though, the film crew have been working six hour days on set instead of the usual 12, which makes perfect sense. After all, it's hard enough doing 12 hour days when you're 60 years younger than Clint is, let alone nearing your ninth decade.

Currently, there's no scheduled release date for The Mule, but we do know that it also stars Bradley Cooper, Laurence Fishburne and Dianne West.

American Horror Story actress Taissa Farmiga, Narcos' Michael Peña and Bones' Ignacio Serricchio will also appear in the film, meaning there's a pretty stellar list of names already attached to it - usually a good sign, if ever there was one.

So with a cast that good and a plot that enticing, we're very excited to see it... Especially given that Clint's had six years to get ready for it.
