Charlie Brooker's Black Mirror is one of the best Channel 4 shows of recent times. What followed were a whole series of great original shows exploring a dystopian near future where we are basically slaves to technology.

While it reads like a tired old cliche now, Brooker had a way of approaching the issue without it feeling like a stagnant meme played out in TV drama form.

So it seems very odd that the network have not snapped up another series of it. Whatever, their loss is Netflix's gain.

Empire reports that it will premiere on the streaming service on October 21st.

Currently on a TV press tour, Netflix used the occassion to make the announcement.

It will be a six episode series and Brooker and his team have gathered a bunch of very experimental and exciting directors and actors for the run of episodes.

These include 'San Junipero', which will star Mackenzie Davis and will be directed by Owen Harris.

Other episodes will star Jerome Flynn (Game of Thrones) and Bryce Dallas Howard (Jurassic World). While another episode, 'Playtest' will be helmed by 10 Cloverfield Lane's Dan Trachtenberg.

As always, brace yourself for a mass of 'WTF?' tweets when it premieres later in the year.
