Anne Hegerty Quits With Two Stars In 'I'm A Celeb' Bushtucker Trial

The Governess was overwhelmed by slime and mealworms

Anne Hegerty has become the first person to quit a Bushtucker Trial on this series of I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here!.

The Chase star was voted by the public to take on the second trial, but could not emulate Emily Atack, who managed to get nine stars out of ten on the first trial of the series last night.

After receiving some parting messages of support from her camp mates at Snake Pit, the 60-year-old made her way to the Monstrous Monoliths. Dec and Holly explained that she would be locked within a series of giant stones and must unlock two boxes within each stone to receive two stars.

Similar to last night's trial, the first six stars would go towards feeding camp mates at Croc Creek, while the seventh would feed Anne and see her switch camp. The remaining three would feed Snake Pit.

Predictably, Anne was not alone for long in the first 'monolith', as slime poured down on her head... though this is pretty tame by Bushtucker Trial standards. Fish guts were next to join the party, but she managed to retrieve both stars from their boxes with ten seconds left to spare.

But The Governess had a harder time of it in the second stone, where she made friends with lots and lots of mealworms. Unfortunately for her, they didn't seem too bothered by the various insults and commands she barked at them: "Get out of my ear you thing... That's revolting of you... Oh god you're disgusting."

Having exited the second monolith starless, Dec asked if she wished to power on, but she instead opted to throw in the towel with those fatal words: "I'm a celebrity, get me out of here. I can't do it. I'm sorry."

Back at Snake Pit, her campmates were all very nice about her fairly disappointing haul. Seemingly, the fact they had her back was compensation enough for the lack of food.

Guitarist, James McVey, said: "The sheer fact that she's here at all is a testament to her bravery. We're just really glad that she came back. Emily left us yesterday so we're really glad that she's back because I don't think we can face losing another one of our team yellow."

Give it time though, they've only been in there a few days. Wait until they've only eaten a few beans and a bit of tree bark in a week's time, then we'll see just how nice they all are... That is when the really excellent TV begins.
