Avengers: Endgame will be hitting cinemas for a second time with additional footage that didn't make the original cut, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige has revealed.

Speaking to ComicBook.com at the Spider-Man: Far From Home press junket in London, Feige confirmed the theatrical re-release will include new footage, saying: "We are doing that."

He added: "I don't know if it's been announced. And I don't know how much... Yeah, we're doing it next weekend."

Of course, while it's nice to think this is Marvel's way of giving back to its fans - treating us not only to an extra dose of big-screen Endgame, but also EXTRA footage (Christmas has come early, LADs!) - it's also pretty likely that it has something to do with that race for the box office top spot.

Endgame did incredibly well at the global box office, having currently raked in a spectacular $2.743 billion, according to ComicBook.com.

However, so far it's not done enough to topple James Cameron's Avatar, which still holds the global box office record with $2.788 billion, as of Wednesday morning.

That could all change with an extra boost from another spin round cinemas, luring people back in with the promise of unseen footage. Clever.

No doubt it will also keep Marvel nice and fresh in everyone's minds ahead of the release of Spider-Man: Far From Home in a few weeks.

The film kicks off Marvel Studios' Phase Four and is set right after the end of Endgame. After all the excitement, Peter Parker decides to go on a little holiday to Europe, but finds it isn't long until he's tracked down by S.H.I.E.L.D boss Nick Fury, who has other plans.

Fury teams the teen up with Mysterio (Jake Gyllenhaal), but judging from the trailer, it looks like their partnership seems to sour somewhat as Mysterio's true motives begin to unravel.

According to Feige, the movie's title has 'dual meanings'.

He said: "We like [the title] of course because it ties into Homecoming, not just keeping that word going, which we like and we liked it more than Homecoming 2, but that notion of 'home' is a word that has dual meanings we'd like to continue with this [Marvel Cinematic Universe] version of Spider-Man.

"So 'far from home' has multiple meanings."

Spider-Man: Far From Home is set to hit cinemas from 2 July.
