Look, I'll be the first to admit that when I found out there would be yet another reboot of the Spider-Man franchise, I was annoyed. Even though Toby McGuire's and Andrew Garfield's storylines were different - I felt that the story had been told.

But the new preview for Spider-Man: Homecoming shows that the film, starring 20-year-old Tom Holland in the title role, looks set to live up to what superhero fans expect these days.

As you can see, Tony Stark, aka Iron Man (Robert Downey Junior) is in the film, because Homecoming serves as the movie to build on Spidey's relationship with the Avengers. The trailers released so far have made links to the superhero collective and this decidedly younger-looking Spidey even asks Stark: "So to become an Avenger, are there trials or an interview?"

The official synopsis is: "Thrilled by his experience with the Avengers, Peter returns home, where he lives with his Aunt May (Marisa Tomei), under the watchful eye of his new mentor Tony Stark (Robert Downey, Jr.). Peter tries to fall back into his normal daily routine - distracted by thoughts of proving himself to be more than just your friendly neighbourhood Spider-Man - but when the Vulture (Michael Keaton) emerges as a new villain, everything that Peter holds most important will be threatened."

The latest trailer shows that this Spider-Man will get the Tony Stark makeover with a fairly impressive suit. Toby McGuire's Spidey costume was pretty rudimentary - something to keep his identity hidden. Andrew Garfield's outfit was mildly upgraded and his web-shooting abilities were made through a 'biocable web'. Tom Holland's suit looks fucking epic with 576 possible web shooter combinations.

The movie is chock-full of big name actors, including Zendaya, Jon Favreau, Martin Starr, Donald Glover and Hannibal Buress.

Keaton has told Collider about his role as the villain: "He's somewhat of a victim. He takes things in that he feels like a victim, and some of it is justified actually. He believes that there's an upper echelon of society of people who are getting away with a lot and have everything."

Director Tom Watts says that it was great to juxtapose Spider-Man being a kid in high-school with his secret life fighting crime alongside the likes of Iron Man and Nordic god Thor. He was whisked down to the set of Captain America: Civil War, where Holland's Spidey was first glimpsed, to see how this new incarnation was going to work and to establish the character arc that the new film would have to build on.

Another element that you can gauge from the trailers is that this Spider-Man series will add in a bit more comedy, even if the jokes or puns aren't that great. it will be similar to the Marvel Universe-styled comedy of more recent movies, rather than the usual serious tone of the previous two Spider-Man outings.

The film will hit screens on 28 June in the US and 5 July in the UK, Finland and Ireland, before its wider release worldwide.
