Steven Spielberg 'In Talks To Bring Back Hit Cartoon Series Animaniacs'

Helloooooo nurse!

Let's be honest, Animaniacs was bloody amazing. My first experience of the show was Yakko's incredibly catchy song which named all the countries of the world. If your ears haven't been blessed with this opportunity then you're in for a real treat.

They had plenty of other videos explaining US states and capitals as well as presidents. It ran for 99 episodes between 1993 and 1998 and spawned the hit show Pinky and the Brain. It featured cartoon sketches with Yakko, Wakoo and Dot.

But like some cartoon shows, they are much more appreciated when you look back on the show as an adult; as many of the jokes were aimed at older audiences. Some of the sketches would parody famous adult movies like The Godfather and Goodfellas, while celebrities at the time were mocked and caricatured. Some of their innuendos were on point:

Despite a nearly 20-year absence from our screens, the show was added to US Netflix accounts last year. According to Indiewire, there has been a huge surge of interest in the show. Enough to push Steven Spielberg to remake the series. Apparently, the reboot is in the very early stages of development

People are goddamn excited:

While the cartoon was running, it was the second most popular children's show in the demographics of 2-11 and 6-11 years old. The number one spot was Mighty Morphin Power Rangers - which I have to admit was basically my entire childhood.

Animaniacs won an impressive number of awards during its run, including several Daytime Emmy's, a Peabody Award. It was voted in 2009 the 17th best animated television series of all time.

I'm so hoping that a TV studio picks this up because they would have so much material to work with.
