Just when you think you've watched everything you're bothered about on Netflix, they reel you back in with something else that looks amazing. Watch the trailer for their new movie Bright below, as Will Smith makes a welcome return to action...

Bright has cost Netflix an estimated $90 million (£68.3m), by far their biggest and most expansive silver screen outing yet, and it seems like all of that money is on display.

The story invokes a future Los Angeles where orcs and magic are commonplace - Smith plays an LAPD cop who is partnered with the first ever orc to join the force, portrayed by Aussie actor Joel Egerton.

There are heavy overtones of racial tension - between the orcs and the rest of society - but based on the trailer, that takes a backseat to the wisecracking, foul-mouthed Smith and his buddy cop relationship with Egerton.

Noomie Rapace, the star of the original Swedish version of The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, co-stars, as does Girl on the Train actor Edgar Ramirez and Kenneth Choi, most famous for his role in The Wolf of Wall Street.

Will Smith is about as guaranteed a box office draw as there is, and Netflix have certainly invested a lot of time and effort in getting it made, so let's hope the film lives up to all of the expectations that the trailer has created.

Netflix has gone from nothing to a genuine broadcasting juggernaut in what seems like no time at all. When they began producing their own content, they managed to come up with shows like Orange is the New Black, House of Cards and Stranger Things, making a lot of people stand up and took notice.

Only time will tell if Bright can prove to be as popular as those shows - and with the second season of Stranger Things set to hit the streaming service this week, that's a significant mountain to climb - but if the trailer is anything to go by, it looks like they've invested wisely.
