Amanda Holden was terrified by the ruse

Magic is great. Who doesn't love seeing a coin disappear or a rabbit being pulled out of a hat. Sure, we know it's not real; the guy in a top hat entertaining your kids definitely doesn't have supernatural powers. Sorry to break it to you.

But that doesn't mean we want to know how it's done. Where's the fun in that?

So when a Britain's Got Talent camera operator 'exposed' a magician's 'haunting' trick during the semi-finals, viewers felt pretty let down and were left concerned the operator could lose their job because of it.

Contestant Elizabeth left Amanda Holden in tears as she was terrified by the creepy ruse for a second time.

The BGT judge was taken down into the building's basement and screeched as a ghostly apparition of Florence vanished, only to reappear seconds later from the dark.

If that wasn't enough for poor old 'Manda, Florence's mum then crashed through the mirror and walked straight over to her, before taking her by the hand and leading her upstairs. The trick came to a head back on stage, when Amanda turned around to see the ghost had mysteriously transformed into Elizabeth the magician.

Sufficiently scared shitless, Amanda then screams 'fuck' when she realises what has happened. The crowd cheers, it's gone down pretty well.

However, eagle-eyed viewers weren't so impressed, as they pointed out the fact that the camera had accidentally caught the magician waiting in the stairwell, ready to switch places with the 'ghost'.

Oh dear.

Taking to social media, one disappointed fan wrote: "The Haunting...anyone else see the other girl coming out of the stairs to take over from "Agatha"?"

A second viewer said: "The haunting wasn't even real, you could see the woman change on the stairs!"

A third then asked: "Did anyone else notice the woman standing on the stairs ready to swap over on the haunting act?"

Another joked that the crew member could get the boot after messing up the trick, writing: "The haunting's cameraman after realising he's getting sacked for exposing the act as fake at the stairs."

Fortunately for Elizabeth, Amanda was none the wiser and after it was all over, apologised for swearing live on air.

She said: "I just really want to apologise if I...I know there's kids watching. A massive apology. I can honestly say I feel terrified. It's terrifying, amazing, thrilling. I wouldn't want anyone to go through that. It was amazing."

But while some pointed out the unfortunate faux-pas, other viewers were more worried about Amanda's sanity.

One person said: "Didn't find the haunted scary or skilled but had tears in my eyes for @AmandaHolden thought it was a bit cruel."

Grow up.
