'Celebrity Big Brother’s Ann Widdecombe Is Not Keen On Meghan Markle Marrying Prince Harry

The ex-politician has said that she is uneasy about Harry and Meghan’s upcoming wedding as a result of Meghan’s ‘background’ and ‘attitude’

Big Brother has always courted a fair share of controversy, whether it's the racism and bullying scandal that surrounded Jade Goody, Danielle Lloyd, and Jo O'Meara, or the many bullying claims that have persisted worldwide since the show's inception.

It seems almost like it's not the best idea in the world to lock a load of highly-strung total strangers in a house with each other for the best part of a month. Who saw that coming?

Anyway, in recent years Big Brother has been struggling for popularity. We've seen it all before, and the Celebrity Big Brother cast are barely celebrities at all.

A quick glance down this year's panel of celebs does not make for particularly exciting reading either. I mean, John Barnes was good at football once, but do we really want to watch him sit around twiddling his thumbs for days on end on telly?

The public might have lost interest but on it goes, and now Ann Widdecombe, who has become more famous in recent years for making a tit out of herself on various reality TV shows than she ever was for being a politician.

This time, she has taken aim at Meghan Markle. Yes, that Meghan Markle, the relentlessly popular TV star and future royal family member.

Needless to say, Meghan's adoring public won't stand for that, and Widdecombe has come in for some pretty damning criticism, and has even been accused of racism.

Housemate Ashley James was applying make-up to Widdecombe's face, and Ann admitted to uneasiness about Meghan joining the royal family.

She said: "I think she's trouble."

Upon being asked why by housemate Rachel Johnson, Ann continued: "Background, attitude, I worry. I add it all up and I am uneasy but there we go."

Prince Harry and Markle will marry this year on 19 May at Windsor Castle - that is, unless Harry is a big CBB fan and really, really cares about the views of Ann Widdecombe.

Her views have been described online as out of touch, as well as being bizarre given that she has never met the woman. Twitter was unimpressed too:

Whilst it's hard to say whether Ann's comments necessarily constitute racism, Meghan being 'trouble' is surely not a tune that anybody's about to dance to just yet.
