Couples Come Dine With Me On The Look Out For Contestants

Since Channel 4's Come Dine With Me first hit UK screens in 2005, we've been introduced to some of the country's most 'interesting' people - all of them wanting to cook their way to that sweet little £1,000 prize and often embarrassing themselves a bit along the way.

Ever fancied being one of those people? Well, now you can - the programme has appealed for more 'characters' to appear on its couple show.

The folks behind Couples Come Dine With Me are looking for pairs who are willing to show off their skills - and be filmed in the process. Although they're directly appealing for couples from Manchester, Cambridge and Brighton, people from anywhere in the UK are invited to apply.

If, somehow, you're not familiar with Come Dine With Me, it's a cooking show where strangers host dinner parties and rate each other in private, usually with a spot of odd behaviour on the side and throwing in some marvellously snidey insults along the way. The contestant who's deemed to have put on the best night wins £1,000.

As you'd expect, the couples version sees three pairs cooking for each other.

When you're in the kitchen cooking up a storm, it must be easy to forget you're being filmed for the whole world to see, and it shows - the programme has gifted us with some of the most cringe-worthy bits of telly ever.

There was the guy who put a whisk in his mouth, in what can only be described as the creepiest way ever. When going in to have a quick taste of his cake mix - so far, nothing wrong with that, we've all done it - he went that step further, putting the whole thing in there. He then looks straight down the camera, saying 'perfect'. It resulted in a very intense clip that understandably sent the Internet into meltdown.

And we couldn't talk about the most memorable Come Dine With Me contestants without bringing up good ol' Peter.

Basically, nobody likes a sore loser, as the poor guy found out after his roast beef main failed to clinch him the prize - he subsequently lost it and completely went in on his fellow diners.

I imagine the combo of meeting new people - with whom you've presumably been grouped due to how different your personalities are - combined with the stress of a hot kitchen and, of course, the pressure of that alluring grand... well, it's all enough to make tensions rise.

Sure enough, his rant went viral, and to this day continues to bring us joy.

He said: "You ruined my night completely just so you could have the money.

"I hope now you will spend it on getting some lessons in grace and decorum, because you have all the grace of a reversing dump truck without any tyres on!"

Not bitter at all. Great telly though.
