The Russian villain was in the background in the Ice Box Prison scene, but blink and you'd have missed him

A makeup artist from Deadpool 2 has been shedding light on some of the sneaky Easter egg hidden characters you might have missed in the movie's Ice Box Prison scene - which could mean they'll feature more heavily in the movie's forthcoming uncut edit.

Those guys over at Marvel love getting our brains into a twist with their movies, especially the mid-credit scenes that tend to give little clues about future movies.

If you've managed to keep track of all the little relationships and connections between the movies and the characters without scouring plot summaries online, you are probably extremely intelligent and properly on the ball. And also probably a massive nerd. Embrace that.

Anyway, Deadpool 2 is certainly no exception - the hilarious movie smashes the fourth wall repeatedly and is filled with self-deprecating gags about itself and superhero movies in general, while jumping in and out of different timelines and Marvel universes.

And for all you Marvel superfans out there, makeup artist Bill Corso has provided some behind-the-scenes treats from the film that you may well have missed if you blinked at the wrong time in cinemas when it was released earlier this year.

To celebrate the screening of Deadpool 2: The Uncut Cut at this year's Comic Con, which begins in San Diego on Thursday (19 July), Corso has taken to social media to point out some of the mutant villains that were in the Ice Box Prison sequence - taken from the list of 'FOX approved' characters in the massive X-Men universe.

He said: "To celebrate the Comic Con showing of our special, Mega Fan only, 'Deadpool 2: the Unrated Cut', I've decided to show the, blink and you'll miss them, Mutant Villains of the Ice Box Prison.

"Some characters from the Marvel Universe hidden here are Omega Red, and various others from sifting through the FOX approved X-Men Universe."

For those unfamiliar with Omega Red, being portrayed by actor Dakoda Shepley, he is one of Marvel's slightly more horrendously villainous villains.

He started out life as a Russian commando in the Spetsnaz special forces in the mid-20th century, where he went around murdering young girls as and when the opportunity arose.

His comrades found out and tried to execute him for it, but his mutant powers meant he survived the bullet to the head. He was court-martialed and put in the USSR's super-soldier project, where he was given a number of horrific enhancements, including radioactive cyborg retractable tentacles. Grim.

He's tussled repeatedly with Wolverine in the comics of the 1990s, but Corso's revelations specifically mentioning Omega Red seem to indicate that he'll have a bigger role in the uncut version of Deadpool 2 being aired at Comic Con.

The Blu-ray version of the film also includes a feature called 'Chess with Omega Red' - so it looks like the villain is getting a fair bit of face time and could be popping up elsewhere sometime soon.
