‘Deadpool 2’ Is On Track To Dethrone 'Avengers: Infinity War’ At The Box Office

'Avengers: Infinity War' has been on the top spot for four weeks but it could be about to be knocked off its throne

Everyone went wild when Black Panther rocketed up the Box Office rankings to become the biggest selling superhero movies of all time. But then along came Avengers: Infinity War, which absolutely smashed that record and it now sits at the fourth highest grossing film of all time.

But after several weeks at number one, that Marvel masterpiece looks like it's going to be knocked off the top spot by Deadpool 2.

Box Office Pro forecasts the film could make anywhere between $125 million (£92.5m) to $150 million (£111m) this weekend.

The site says: "The most notable difference is that Deadpool 2's Twitter activity - while very strong in overall terms - has hovered around the first film's daily performance, while remaining far ahead of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 and well behind Suicide Squad.

"As a sequel, we typically expect to see numbers far higher in comparison to origin stories, but the first Deadpool was a considerable outlier in terms of its social media prowess."

While it might not be able to beat Infinity War on the overall Box Office figures, it's almost a definite to take the top spot at the current rankings - which will be music to Ryan Reynolds' ears.

Audiences in the UK have been able to lap up three glorious days of the film's greatness, while American fans will finally get to feast on the movie from today.

Reynolds will no doubt be excited at taking a rest from promoting the shit out of the Marvel film after spending what seemed like years jet-setting all over the world to take over Manchester United, perform in a unicorn outfit on a Korean singing contest, dance over a Celine Dion song and many more stunts.

His wife, Blake Lively, has been incredibly supportive of the movie and at its premiere in New York she wore as many Deadpool related things as she could.

Dressed in Deadpool colours - black and red - Blake had a pretty cool bag which was made to look like a cassette tape with 'party mix' written on one side and 'chill beats' on the other.

She also had her nails painted with Deadpool-themed nail art, including a teeny imitation of the Merc with a Mouth's mask - and if all that wasn't enough she also wore a ring which looked like Colossus' fist.

If you're wondering whether to see the sequel, just keep in mind that critics rate it better than the original and some even going as far as saying it's more incredible that Infinity War.
