We should be in for a good ride – if the response from recent test screenings is anything to go by

Plenty of reasons to look forward to this spring's guaranteed smash hit Deadpool 2, with special cameos seemingly on the cards as test audiences judge it to be a rip-roaring success.

While the film doesn't hit cinemas until May, we already know we should be in for a good ride - if the response from recent test screenings is anything to go by.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, the highly anticipated sequel scored 98 in its third and final test screenings, following ratings of 91 and 97 in the initial two screenings.

Apparently the Deadpool 2 crew screened two separate cuts, which scored 98 and 94 respectively, before deciding that the highest-achieving edit would be the 'version that the team is using'.

THR reports that the highest test screening that the original Deadpool film got was 91, so if you were into that, prepare to be blown out of the water with this next, apparently even better, one.

Plus, the first film went on to gross $783 million (£556m) worldwide - and stands as the highest-grossing X-Men movie of all time - so God knows how much money its successor will rake in.

And there's more news, as the test screens have also led to speculation that the new film may well include a special cameo.

In the same article THR sneakily added: "There was also two hours' worth of work recently in Los Angeles for a secret cameo."

The entertainment site didn't specify who this would be, but that hasn't stopped fans dreaming up ideas.

Other than this secret cameo - and, of course, Ryan Reynolds as the titular superhero - the forthcoming film also features Josh Brolin, Zazie Beets and Julian Dennison, as well as returning favourites Morena Baccarin, T.J. Miller, Stefan Kapicic, Brianna Hildebrand, Leslie Uggams and Karan Soni.

The movie execs have been teasing us with a few promotional posters and clips here and there, but recently they finally gave us what we all wanted: the trailer.

And it did not disappoint - combining the winning combo of epic, funny and foul-mouthed language that we instantly loved in the first film.

There's even takes a dig at the shambles that actor Henry Cavill was embroiled in while filming Justice League and Mission: Impossible 6 - he had to grow a moustache for the sixth installment to Tom Cruise's franchise but had to be clean shaven to play Superman, meaning the tech crew behind the superhero movie had to digitally remove the facial fuzz.

That gets hilariously referenced in the trailer when Brolin's character is seen with a green arm, supposedly for special effects - leading to Reynolds pausing the clip and yelling out: "What in the actual ass? Dale! Why are the visual effects not done? It's a metal arm. It's not like we're trying to remove a moustache."

He then adds: "Ah fuck it, I'll do it myself."

We can't wait to see what the folk in those test screenings not only saw, but also absolutely loved. Just a few months to go...
