People Are Saying Netflix's 'The Innocent Man' Is One Of The Best Ever

Well, look no further, because Netflix's The Innocent Man dropped a few days ago and already fans are completely hooked.

The true crime documentary series came out on 14 December and is based on the 2006 John Grisham non-fiction book of the same name, as well as Robert Mayer's The Dreams of Ada (1987).

With comparisons between Making and Murderer and Evil Genius, the show delves into two murders that rocked the small town of Ada, in Oklahoma, in the 1980s.

The murders took place two years apart, with the first victim being 21-year-old Debra Sue 'Debbie' Carter, who was brutally murdered in her home in 1982. The second killing, in 1984, saw a 24-year-old convenience store worker called Denice Haraway kidnapped from her workplace.

Four men - Tommy Ward, Karl Fontenot, Ron Williamson and Dennis Fritz - were charged with the murders. One particular focus is how one of these men was kept on death row for 11 years - while a man who raped and murdered a woman went free for years.

Since the case is already closed and is one of the most famous examples of a failed system, The Innocent Man puts the legal system back on trial. It's a fitting time for a show to highlight this topic, arriving hot off the heels of the tumultuous second season of Making a Murderer.

With such gripping stories at the core of it and a slew of accounts from friends and family members of the victims, as well as local residents, attorneys who worked on the case and the journalists who covered it, already fans are describing the series as their 'new obsession'.

Many have taken to social media to share their opinions, with one fan writing: "The Innocent Man on Netflix is one of the best documentaries I have watched for a while."

Another praised Netflix for having 'the best murder mystery shows', adding, "I'm watching 'The Innocent Man' right now and I'm all the way hooked".
