Expert Suggests That Drogon Might Have Eaten Daenerys Targaryen After She Died

As if the ending wasn't controversial enough...

Now that the dust has settled on the final series of Game of Thrones, we've had enough time to think about what might have happened after the credits rolled.

With that in mind, here's a bit of a theory for you. Brace yourself, because this is a spicy hot take.

A forensic anthropologist has suggested that after the death of Daenerys Targaryen, her beloved dragon Drogon might have actually carried her off to eat her.

Yep, that's right. The 'Mother of Dragons' could have ended up becoming the Dinner of Dragons in the end.

HBO

I'll let Dr Carolyn Rando explain. She told HuffPost: "Might he eat her? Possibly, yes.

"I don't think we can discount that he was going off to eat her."

Really? Well, perhaps not.

She continued: "It seems like the dragons in the show have some sort of semblance of understanding of human behaviour a little bit. And so they see her as a parent. So it was a grief type of thing.

"At the birth, it was the first thing they saw. The first thing they would have seen was her. So I think that imprinting is really strong. And if you look at animal studies in zoos, where they're trying to raise animals to go back into the wild, they'll use puppets and things that look like the animal that they are so that they don't imprint on people.

"So I think it's probably down to really strong imprinting. This is my parent, and I need to protect them."

HBO

Hmm. While we'll likely never know what Drogon's intentions were, and it's been suggested that he could have been taking her to Valyria - her family's ancestral home - or to Volantis for resurrection, it's certainly not uncommon for pets to chow down on their 'parents' if they die.

"[It] probably happens more than we think.

"When you look at the case studies, it's very specific conditions.

"So someone lived alone, not a lot of friends came by the house, they died of natural causes, the pets couldn't get out of the house. There's no food in the house. Those types of things."

Oh great. As if people weren't already upset enough about how Game of Thrones ended, now you're suggesting that the Khaleesi was reduced to nothing more than an appetiser in the end.
