Filming For Bill & Ted Face The Music Has Finished
There's been a fair few new movie announcements in recent days - with the first trailer for El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie dropping and news that a sequel to Black Panther is in the works. It seems, however, they've saved the best until last, because filming for Bill & Ted Face the Music wrapped yesterday (24 August).
Ed Solomon, who wrote the film along with Chris Matheson, shared the good news on Twitter, with a little clip showing cast and crew applauding as the film officially finished filming with the caption: "And that's a wrap on Bill and Ted."
It's been 18 years since the last Bill & Ted movie, so fans were understandably feeling a bit emotional after watching the clip, with one posting: "I got teary eyed watching that. Look at all the incredible people it takes to make a film excellent."
While another wrote: "I'm not sure why, but I'm teary-eyed. Thanks to you and Chris for writing it. So happy for you all and thankful to all of you for working so hard to make this movie! Yay! So many happy fans out here celebrating..."
A third added: "Why am I crying?! I wasn't even there! Endings make me sad and thanks to your tweets, I feel I WAS there in some way. Thanks to all of you for giving us another movie with the great ones. These movies mean a lot to me. My happy place."
Feeling the love, Ed?
The movie, which is set to hit cinema's next year, catches up with Bill S. Preston, Esq. (played by Alex Winter) and Ted 'Theodore' Logan (Keanu Reeves) who are now a couple of middle-aged fellas with families of their own.
However, a traveller from the future turns up and tells them they need to write a song that will save the entire universe - no biggie, then.
Fans of the original two movies has been waiting years for another movie and it seemed as though it was never going to happen. There were rumours that a script was finished all the way back in 2010 but then - nothing. That was until May last year, when it was announced that a distribution deal had been made and the film was given the green-light.
Speaking to Digital Spy, Solomon said: "We have a script that we really are proud of, that we worked very hard on, that we've done many iterations of - and we did it on spec, meaning we spent years working on it because we wanted to get it right, creatively.
"This is not, 'Hey let's all cash-in on the Bill & Ted thing for money' - this is the opposite. This is, 'We love these characters, they've been with us for our whole lives' - Chris and me, and Alex and Keanu - and we wanted to visit them again as middle-aged men. We thought it would be really fun, and funny, and sweet."
I can't wait.
Bill & Ted Face the Music is tipped for release in August 2020.
