‘First Dates’ Waitress Laura Tott Is Actually An Ambulance Technician

While she's posted a few photos of her in her uniform over the years, it hasn't stopped people from being surprised

The cast of First Dates have become an integral structure to how the Channel 4 show operates. They help the date along if it's getting a bit awkward and comfort those who might not have been hit with cupid's arrow.

But, they don't all just hang out at Galvin at Windows all day, unsurprisingly, they do have lives outside the Michelin-starred restaurant in London.

Waitress Laura Tott recently revealed that she's an ambulance technician.

She's uploaded a photo to Instagram saying: "Last night shift before 18 days off. I'm happier than I look I promise!"

It's not the first time she's uploaded a picture of her in her paramedic get up but it still has taken some followers by surprise.

One person wrote: "Had no idea! Good on you girl, enjoy your days off. Feel your pain re: nights."

Another added: "Wow Laura so proud of you. Did not realise First Dates wasn't your main day job. You are so brilliant doing wonderful work as a paramedic."

An ambulance technician is actually different from a paramedic as they help them during the assessment, diagnosis and treatment of patients at the scene and during hospital transfers.

Technicians are still able to administer life support and basic interventions and they're trained in basic clinical examination.

But that's not the only career move she made as she joined the Navy in 2015.

She uploaded a snap of her shipmates, writing: "Exactly a year ago today I joined the Royal Navy. I made some of the best and craziest friends. I'm so proud of all of you and I miss you so much."

The worldwide hit First Dates recently had a pretty impressive contestant (is that what we call them?).

Richard became the oldest person to go on the reality TV dating show at the tender age of 97.

He said: "I played for [Tottenham] as a junior, training for Tottenham Hotspur and then BANG, the blasted war started. I was called up to the forces, the army and I was 18."

Richard spoke about how difficult it was being shipped off to war at such a young age and that it was 'horrible' see his mates killed in front of him.

His date Ruth boldly asks the war veteran how old he is and is shocked when he says he's less than three years shy of becoming a centenarian.

"My god - I wouldn't have believed it. If I had a hat I would take my hat off to you because I think you're amazing."
