The trailer has a serious 80s vibe - if 'Stranger Things' has taught us anything, we should know that's pretty bloody massive at the minute

The first official trailer for Transformer spin-off movie Bumblebee is here.

The movie will be the first Transformers flick not to be directed by Michael Bay and, if the trailer is anything to go by it's going to be packed with 80s nostalgia. If Stranger Things has taught us anything, that's pretty bloody massive at the minute.

The trailer shows Charlie Watson (played by Hailee Steinfield) picking out the iconic yellow VW Beetle, which then quickly morphs into its robo-alter-ego Bumblebee and is actually quite adorable.

We're then treated to all the sort of action we've come to used to with the movie franchise, but it definitely has a more upbeat vibe to it than the most recent Tranformers film, 2017's The Last Knight.

It ends by Rick-rolling us all and playing a couple of seconds of 'Never Gonna Give You Up' by Rick Astley, which to his credit, Bumblebee doesn't like and spits at Charlie.

Former WWE wrestler John Cena joins Steinfield and Jorge Lendeborg Jr in the movie, which is directed by Travis Knight. Although Bay isn't directing, he is on board as a producer.

Speaking to Digital Spy, Cena said: "It's a bit of a different role. I don't wanna confirm a Cena heel-turn, because it's not a full-blown deal like that, but it's damn sure close!"

He added: "It was awesome to be involved with that franchise, and a pleasure to be asked to be part of the movie, but I took the part because it was a challenge for me. It's something that I haven't been able to showcase, and that I wanted to."

As well as the trailer, the first official poster has been released and, again, it looks pretty cute:

Fans are already looking forward to the new release:

But there'll be a bit of a wait - it was initially reported that Bumblebee would be released in June this year, however, it's since been revealed that it'll hit cinemas on 21 December.

Do we have to wait that long?
