Exciting news for Alan Partridge fans (and if you're not a Partridge fan, you don't matter): the first trailer for the legendary comedy character's new series has dropped.

The six-part series has been described by the BBC as a 'a heady mix of consumer affairs, current affairs, viewer interaction, highbrow interview and lightweight froth' - a sort of Partridgey The One Show, then. If anything ever sounded like a winning formula, it's that right there.

Indeed, the now famous indifferent Partridge GIF has never been less appropriate. This, is a bone fide 'Jurassic Park' occasion.

The trailer itself doesn't reveal much about the general plot of the series, though. In it, Partridge can be seen looking a little flustered as he asks for water, with his requests inevitably ignored. His co-host then perches by his side and claims to have seen him on Mid-Morning Matters - despite the fact it was a radio show.

So unsurprisingly, it seems the comedy will continue to be derived from the broadcaster's failings and lack of recognition, which is reassuring.

Fans of the Norfolk DJ supreme will be pleased to hear that the new show, entitled This Time with Alan Partridge, has been written by Steve Coogan, Neil Gibbons and Rob Gibbons - who have co-written many of the greatest Partridge productions.

Unfortunately, we still don't have a release date. All we know is it is 'coming soon' to BBC One.
