Halle Berry has confirmed she will star in John Wick: Chapter 3 alongside Keanu Reeves.

Taking to Instagram just days after an official release date was announced, Berry, 51, posted a picture of a card headed with 'The Continental' logo and the words: 'See you in a year, Mr Wick', handwritten across it.

Lionsgate, the company behind the film, also revealed that Asia Kate Dillon (Billions), Anjelica Houston (The Witches), Mark Dacascos (Cradle 2 the Grave), and Jason Mantzoukas (The Dictator) have signed up for the film, which welcomes back Reeves, Laurence Fishbourne, Lance Reddick and Ian McShane.

Late last week, the official John Wick: Chapter 3 Twitter account shared the release date for the film - 17 May 2019 - sparking a flurry of excited responses from fans.

Shooting for the film began earlier this month, according to Academy Award nominated cinematographer Dan Laustsen who shared some snaps to his Instagram page, showing what appears to be Keanu Reeves on set.

An official synopsis for the film reads: "John Wick (Keanu Reeves) is on the run for two reasons... he's being hunted for a global $14 million-dollar open contract on his life, and for breaking a central rule: taking a life on Continental Hotel grounds.

"The victim was a member of the High Table who ordered the open contract. John should have already been executed, except the Continental's manager, Winston, has given him a one-hour grace period before he's 'Excommunicado' - membership revoked, banned from all services and cut off from other members.

"John uses the service industry to stay alive as he fights and kills his way out of New York City."

The film's director Chad Stahelski previously told Collider, that this instalment of the film will explore the 'intricate details' of the John Wick Universe.

He said: "We want, not so much to go bigger on the third one, but to show you more of the intricacies of the world.

"I feel like there are all these different subtleties that I skipped over in number two, that I'd like to go back to on [chapter three] and show you the inner workings of different parts of New York.

"So rather than massive set pieces, I'd like to show you cooler and more intricate ones. I think it would be a mistake budget wise and creatively to just go big and blow up a freeway. That's not our gig. That's a comic book or a Bond gig. We want to show you cool and intricate details."

Lionsgate also released the movie's first teaser poster:

As there's just shy of year until it hits the big screen, I think now is the perfect time to re-watch the first two.
