The finale for season nine of Curb Your Enthusiasm aired just two weeks ago and plans are already being put in place for another instalment.

In news that will have Larry David fans buzzing the world over, HBO says production will begin in spring next year and hopefully the new episodes will be ready before winter.

HBO president Casey Bloys has released a statement which says: "We are thrilled that Larry will be back with his uniquely acerbic wit and comedic sensibility.

"As I've said many times, when one has the opportunity to annoy someone, one should do so."

The most recent season wasn't short on being controversial. Coming back after a six-year break, Larry decided this chapter would be about a fatwa (Islamic death sentence) being placed on him after impersonating the leader of Iran, but not before writing a musical comedy (called Fatwa!) about Salman Rushdie's life.

It had a huge cast of cameos, including Bryan Cranston, Lauren Graham, Jimmy Kimmel, Nick Offerman, Elizabeth Banks and Ed Begley Jr to name a few.

People on social media seemed pretty stoked that they'd be getting another round of Larry David's brilliance.

Actually, everyone just responded with Larry David GIFS.

The show has enjoyed a cult following since its debut in 2000, but it's audience base has continued to grow.

If you've been living under a rock and have no clue what Curb Your Enthusiasm is about, it's essentially Larry David getting the unique ability to merge fiction with reality. He plays himself in the show, but an 'extreme fictionalised' version of himself.

It's filmed all over Los Angeles as well as New York City and basically centres around Larry mixing and mingling with his very famous mates.

The show was inspired from a one-hour special that the 70-year-old did in 1999 which was in the style of a mockumentary. People fucking loved it and the cries grew louder and louder for more material before HBO decided to commission 10 episodes.

It's been nominated for a whopping 38 Emmys and won a Golden Globe Award for the Best Television Series - Musical or Comedy in 2002. Curb has been celebrated for it's largely improvised script - where actors literally just bounce off each other and manage to produce comedic gold.

It's clear that even after a six-year break between season eight and nine that the cast and crew hadn't lost their magic - so here's hoping that they bring it back for the next instalment.
