HBO has given us all a first glimpse of the character photos for the upcoming season of Game of Thrones.

Exciting, eh?

In total, 20 new images have been released to whet the appetite of GOT fans, who have (impatiently) waited for the final instalment for since season seven wrapped up in 2017.

Twitter also got in the on the act, revealing a list of who will be popping up in season eight - as well as some pretty cute emojis of them to boot.Fans of the show don't have too long to wait until they get to watch the final season of the show, which hit screens on 14 April.

Last month, HBO dropped the first official trailer, which didn't give away much, but did feature Jon Snow, Arya and Sansa Stark in the crypts underneath Winterfell and dropped a massive hint that the White Walkers are heading south.

HBO CEO Richard Plepler has set expectation high, revealing that each episode is 'like a movie'.

He told Variety recently: "It's a spectacle. The guys have done six movies. The reaction I had while watching them was, 'I'm watching a movie.'"

We've also been promised the biggest, bloodiest battle in the show's history - even more epic that the Battle of the Bastards.

Vladimir Furdik, who plays the Night King, told Hungarian website SorozatWiki: "In the third part of the last season, there is a battle that the creators intend to be the biggest in television history.

"Almost the full episode will be about the battle, it will take about an hour."

Heaping praise on showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, he added: "They knew the bar was high. They've exceeded the bar. I've watched them twice without any CGI and I'm in awe. Everybody's in for an extraordinary treat of storytelling and of magical, magical production."

Sounds incredible - not too long to wait now, guys.

The eighth and final season of Game of Thrones will air on 15th April on Sky Atlantic and NOW TV.
