Holly Willoughby Downs Tequila On Air After Alan Carr's Criticism

Holly Willoughby Downs Tequila On Air After Alan Carr's Criticism

We've all had a drink when perhaps we shouldn't have, a swift one at lunch probably being the most common example. But Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby are perhaps slightly less subtle in hiding it.

Following the past couple of National Television Awards ceremonies, they've returned to host This Morning looking a little worse for wear. In fact, one year they even did it in the same clothes they wore to the event.

But after last night's BAFTAs, Alan Carr predicted that they'd probably do the same thing again, joking that Holly would 'no doubt be pissed', before suggesting that being tipsy on TV 'cheapens the act'.

In response, Holly denied that she was hungover this morning. She claimed that she was 'bright-eyed and bushy-tailed', but as you can see in the video below, this was later put to the test.

At the weekend, Ant and Dec made magician Matt Edwards their 'golden buzzer act' on Britain's Got Talent, so, naturally, he was on This Morning to talk about it.

Part of his point of being on the show was to perform a trick - he opted for bursting a balloon to reveal a bottle of tequila. He then asked the presenters to down a shot of it with him.

Matt told the hosts: "I know how much you guys love tequila," with Phil responding: "The great thing about us is we can make it disappear."

Phil, Holly, Matt and showbiz man Rylan Clark-Neal then toasted success and clinked the glasses together.

Holly showed no sign of a bad head as she downed the shot, but maybe it didn't go down quite as well as it might have done the previous evening - she tensed up her face and squinted at the camera.

Joking with Phil about the antics, she said: "Yes, I had a lovely night. It wasn't the beautiful evening we all planned for; it was a bit of a washout. But look, bright-eyed and bushy tailed - I'm fine this morning."

Her co-host responded saying: "You're looking really good, or hiding it well."

Alan Carr had appeared alongside Holly at the BAFTAs last night to present the award for Best TV Moment. He quipped to Holly that the audience "should have just waited till tomorrow morning when you'll no doubt be pissed on This Morning again!"

Everybody spotted the irony though - Carr was famed for drinking with his guests on his chat show, Chatty Man.

It's not the first time recently Holly's drinking has been joked about. Keith Lemon told LADbible about the drinking culture that goes on while filming Celebrity Juice - on which Holly is a team captain.

He joked: "Holly likes a drink. She's been away for two weeks in rehab, although in the press she said that she went to Florida, to Disneyland, but that's what she calls rehab."
