It's the news we've all been waiting for - or, at the very least, that Ryan Reynolds has been waiting for. Yes, Hugh Jackman has confirmed he's 'open' to returning to the world of superheroes.
Jackman played Marvel's near-invulnerable Wolverine for 17 years, appearing in nine X-Men films before finally hanging up his claws after the 2017 release of the film Logan, but in a recent interview with MTV the star said he'd be up for taking on a new superhero role.

He said: "Oh yeah, I'd be open to that. Yeah, for sure. I mean, for me I never saw it as a superhero, even when I got Logan and I didn't know much about the X-Men series or comic book series, I was like, 'These are great characters.'
"All of these people are flawed characters. Sure, they have extraordinary abilities, right, but they are all really flawed, and that's what the movie's about. That's why people relate to it."
The 50-year-old Greatest Showman star said the role of Wolverine had become too physically demanding over the years - well, he was in pretty good shape - but had previously said if he was to step back into the Marvel Universe he'd like to team up with the Avengers.

During a New York press junket he was asked about being up for starring in an Avengers movie and he said: "If that was on the table when I made my decision, it certainly would have made me pause. That's for sure.
"Because I always love the idea of him within that dynamic, with the Hulk obviously, with Iron Man but there's a lot of smarter people with MBAs who can't figure that out. You never know."
But it's not just the fans that want to see Jackman back in the skin-tight superhero suit - Ryan Reynolds has been relentless in his pursuit to star alongside him.

After endlessly lampooning Jackman in the Deadpool films, Reynolds later found time for a rare display of genuine sentiment when he said: "Hugh Jackman is one of the best human beings. Part of the reason I want to do a Deadpool/Wolverine movie is not just because I think the two would light the screen on fire but I genuinely love the guy."
Perhaps we won't see Jackman in Wolverine's torn vest again, but we may yet see him as another character - but one question remains: will he stay loyal to Marvel or will he cross over to the DC universe?
