You Can Live Like Kevin McAllister At The Plaza Hotel This Christmas

You Can Live Like Kevin McAllister At The Plaza Hotel This Christmas

You can stay in the very same hotel that young Kevin found himself stuck at while his parents swanned off, once again.

Christmas is coming, and that means that festive fever is about to begin. The Coke truck will be spotted on the screens, The Pogues and Kirsty MacColl will get their annual airing and any trip to the shops will become basically unbearable. They say it starts earlier and earlier this year but for some people, Christmas can't come early enough. And not just Roy Wood.

If you're looking to get into the festive spirit ahead of time, then there's an offer for you waiting at one of the most iconic holiday landmarks: the Plaza Hotel in New York. For the uninitiated, that's the hotel made famous by one of the best Christmas films, featuring one slightly irritating boy and his family's best efforts to get shot of him for five minutes. That's right, it's the hotel in which young Kevin McAllister holes up in Home Alone 2: Lost in New York.

Of course, the logic of leaving your preteen offspring alone not once, but twice really questions the levels of parenting involved, but as an adult, you can experience the Macauley Culkin experience without any of the guilt that comes with being an awful mother.

The Plaza Hotel are offering, for the princely sum of $895 (£679), the chance to live like Kevin for a weekend: "In-room and throughout the hotel a variety of experiences inspired by Kevin's time over the holiday's here at The Plaza will come to life for guests to enjoy," according to a blurb on the company's website.

"Beyond the in-room experience, guests are invited to dine in the Todd English Food Hall to taste-test a 90s inspired menu with upscale versions of childhood favourites, or to head over to the interactive photo-experience where they'll find themselves in Kevin's New York journey."

There's a massive ice cream sundae, a concierge service that arranges sightseeing locations from the film and even a bit of ice skating available too.

All you need now is a visit from Donald Trump to top the whole thing off. And some hopelessly incompetent thieves who have inexplicably also ended up in New York at the same time as you. And the worst parents in the world.
