Jeff Goldblum To Star In Docuseries Where He Goes About Being Curious

Jeff Goldblum To Star In Docuseries Where He Goes About Being Curious

Jeff Goldblum has been announced as the star of a National Geographic series in which he goes around the world being curious. No, really.

Jeff Goldblum was the man who famously said in Jurassic Park: "Your scientists were so preoccupied with whether or not they could that they didn't stop to think if they should."

The character of Doctor Ian Malcolm in the '90s classic ripped the curiosity of his fellow scientists to shreds. Although, in fairness, they were building a theme park of live dinosaurs, so a hint more caution might have been advised.

(A film about a gang of geeks decided that, on balance, not breeding dinosaurs in case they went rogue and tried to eat everyone would probably not have been as entertaining as a film).

The man behind Dr Malcolm, however, is much more curious. Goldblum is lending his talent to a new show on National Geographic called The Curiosity Of Jeff Goldblum, which will feature the A-Lister going around the globe and, well, being curious.

The 12 episodes will show Goldblum delving into subways, ice cream, bog rolls and, no, I'm not making any of this up.

According to Jeff, the show "puts me in the driver's seat, guiding viewers on a mind-blowing adventure where we break down the unexpectedly complex science behind seemingly basic things."

He adds: "National Geographic has a knack for developing smart, immersive narratives that expand our understanding of the world around us in creative and entertaining ways. Curiosity is a fundamental human trait."

Courteney Monroe, CEO of National Geographic Global Networks, is also buzzing about the new show.

"We are thrilled to partner with megastar Jeff Goldblum who shares our insatiable curiosity and passion for learning," he said.

"This series is the perfect platform for Jeff to use his uniquely infectious and approachable charm to take viewers on an unexpected and surprising journey."

National Geographic, in announcing the new show, released a statement that read: "It's a fascinating universe out there and Goldblum takes us on his unconventional ride, tackling experiments, busting myths and encountering scientific experts to reveal the astounding science that lies right beneath our eyes."

I mean, sometimes I feel like I would watch Jeff Goldblum do anything, but then I remember that he's in Mortdecai.

That said, I've never had to sit down and watch half-an-hour of Jeff Goldblum versus bog roll, so perhaps we can press the wait and see button on whether this new show will be any good.

Perhaps, just perhaps, they were so preoccupied with whether or not they could make a show about Jeff Goldblum going around the world being curious that they never asked themselves...yeah, you get the joke.
