​Jenna Fischer Gave A Genuine Goodbye To Steve Carrell In His Last Scene In 'The Office'

Almost five years after the US version of The Office clocked out for the last time, Jenna Fischer has revealed what her character, Pam Beesley, said to boss Michael (Steve Carrell).

In Michael's seventh season farewell episode - aptly titled 'Goodbye, Michael' - the Dunder Mifflin patriarch manages to say goodbye to everyone apart from Pam, who's out of the office running errands and doesn't think he was leaving until the following day.

But once Jim fills Pam in, telling her that Michael's actually left for the airport to go and live with his fiance in Colorado, she runs off to meet him and the two share a poignant farewell with each other.

We see Pam say something to Michael, before the two have a long, seemingly very heartfelt embrace.

However, up until now we've not known what was said - and that is, of course, because Michael has removed his microphone, proudly handing it over to the folk behind the camera as he signs out from the mockumentary to go and board his flight and embark on a new life.

But whatever it was, it looked like it came straight from the heart, leaving us all wondering

A fan urged Fischer to reveal what went down in an Instagram live video on Tuesday, asking her what Pam said.

And it turns out there was much more to the touching moment than we first realised, as her tears were actually real ones.

"That was me talking to Steve," Fischer told her Instagram followers.

"I told him all the ways I was going to miss him when he left our show. Those were real tears and a real goodbye."

She added: "That was a really emotional scene."

Another fan also asked her what her favourite episode is, prompting Fischer to take a bit of a walk down memory lane.

"I just watched 'Branch Wars' from Season 4 and I was kind of loving it," she said. "But my ultimate favourite is 'Dinner Party'."

She also went on to give the 'Health Care' episode in the first season a nod, as well as the episodes after Pam had given birth - before revealing she's also got a bit of a soft spot for a moment in 'The Delivery' episode when Pam nurses the wrong baby. Apparently in that one, her real-life husband also made an appearance, making it especially close to her heart.
