John Barrowman Excluded From 'I'm A Celeb' Vote Off After Spraining Ankle

An ankle sprain is a common and inconvenient injury, but if you sustain one while in the I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here jungle, it turns out it is much less of an inconvenience.

John Barrowman picked up the injury while walking down a path with Harry Redknapp on his way to wash a pot. From there he was helped into the medical hut by Nick and Malique, where the jungle medics advised that the Torchwood actor should be sent on to hospital for an X-ray.

The end result? He got to spend the night outside the camp and he is exempt from the public vote off... Now that surely is as convenient as a sprained ankle can be.

Better still, the sprained ankle was not fatal, and Barrowman is strapped up and on the mend. His condition will be assessed tomorrow and from there it will be decided whether he is fit to re-enter the camp.

In a message to his campmates, the injured escapee said: "I am lying here sipping champagne in a hospital with six male strippers.

"Continue to live jungle life as normal. I want to be back in there with you all soon. But please get some rest this evening. Ps I want my fucking dinner when I get back!"

Of course, Barrowman was only jesting about the champagne and male strippers. Indeed, he is said to be on 'lock down' in the hospital - whatever that means. Presumably it's some kind of assurance that he isn't having a jolly while he's outside the camp... though he's surely been allowed to put his feet up a bit.

Safe to say the reaction to the news has been mixed:

For those who have spent their hard earned cash voting for John to be saved since the voting opened last night, fear not, you will be reimbursed via the website. So it's a win win. Your dreams of John not being voted out have been answered and it won't have cost you a penny.

Truly, John's ankle is the only loser... though Barrowman fans will be hoping he is deemed fit to return soon.
