There are celebrity couples, and then there are celebrity couples.

There are the regulation Love Island, TOWIE, insert crap reality show here couples, the part time lovers that distract for a summer or so and then fade into the collective fug of memory, destined only to emerge on This Morning in a year's time, talking about their fitness video or plunging off a ski jump on Channel Five.

Then, there are the big hitters: the Posh and Becks, Mr and Mrs Carter, Kanye and Kim, the Kermit and Miss Piggy...

Well, you can put a line through the last of that list and add it to Brangelina, Bennifer and the consciously uncoupled Gweneth and Chris...

"The frog and I are over," said Piggy in an interview with the Daily Star.

"Done. Split. Naturally, it was my decision.

"We had some wonderful years together but I realised that it wasn't fair to the rest of the men in the world to restrict myself to one frog."

Piggy was promoting The Muppets big new show at the O2 Arena in London, where she will perform.

"While I'm here for The Muppets Take The O2, I plan to visit Buckingham Palace and see if they have any royals they haven't married off.

"I would make a very good princess. Prince Andrew better watch out. Wish moi luck."

Piggy was unfortunate to miss the recent Royal Wedding, but was happy to pass on her compliments to Harry and Meghan.

"I was so happy for them. I'm just sorry I missed the nuptials. I was terribly busy that weekend," the celebrity pig told the Daily Star

"Harry and Meghan tried to reschedule so I could be there but apparently a lot of other guests had already arrived."

Their show next week is set to be an extravaganza that goes back to the heady heights of The Muppet Show, where they would be joined by the biggest names in showbiz every week.

The O2 show is set to feature stars like Kylie Minogue, Steps and former Dr Who David Tennant.

Kermit was particularly pleased to hear that the Aussie singer would be joining the line-up.

"Kylie is so beautiful and talented, of course I have a crush on her," the frog told the Daily Star.

"I think that's one of the reasons Kylie agreed to perform with us - she figured the coast was clear now that Miss Piggy and I are no longer an item."
